IBM x3650 M5 - installation of new SAS expansion slot

SAS expansion card installation over the weekend. We were planning to add 6TB hard disk to the IBM x3650 M5 server to host an Avamar VM. The Avamar server will be use to backup our file server to Dell's Data Domain. More on that soon on our next post.

Windows 11 vs AMD

When it comes to Windows 11, it's possible we've just seen another explosive moment. AMD and Microsoft have previously verified that the new operating system increases L3 cache latency on Ryzen CPUs by three times, but independent testing has shown that it may be up to six times slower. Games, like other high-performance software, may be slowed down by cache delay. To demonstrate just how messed up Windows 11 is on Ryzen, here are some more impressive statistics. According to Paul Alcorn's tests at Tom's Hardware, Windows 10's L3 cache bandwidth may be up to 12 times quicker than that of Windows 11 when compared. AMD and Microsoft jointly disclosed an increase in cache latency of three times, which they claimed may decrease gaming performance in lighter esports-style games by 15% on Windows 11. What do we know about Windows 11

The successor to Windows 10 is Windows 11, at the risk of stating the obvious. Microsoft could have delivered Windows 11's new features in a series of semi-annual feature upgrades to Windows 10 without changing the operating system's name. A new major version number was released along with a laundry list of new features instead of the more traditional "big bang" release method.
